In BR the teenagers all know each other; in HG the majority of the contestants will be strangers, not to mention some will have been actively training to get selected for the game, and they all have an incentive to increase their chances to be chosen. The game is also far more of a reality TV show in HG than in BR (where it's only present, awkwardly, in the English translation of the manga) and how the contestants behave and appear makes a huge difference to their chances. HG contestants have days to prepare and train once they know they've been chosen; BR have no warning and rely totally on whatever skills they have when selected. BR has each person assigned a weapon - with HG, you fight for as many weapons as you can get, or perhaps end up with nothing if you run. Plus, lucky contestants get given stuff specifically tailored to their needs if their sponsors like them. The BR environment is also more or less normal apart from danger zones; HG throws everything it can at the contestants.

... okay, I am typing a wall of text here and there's no point. I think there's a wide range of differences that make me think Collins did not lift ideas from BR. Your argument with the synopses really doesn't convince me.

Okay then. Give me a third novel, manga, movie etc that fits exactly that summary if these similarities are so superficial.
