I happened to think he was the most interesting and least developed character in the whole series. I wish they had done more with him and made it more obvious that they trusted him and he wasn't being kept on standby so much because he's CRAZY. I really wanted them to show he was perfectly capable in spite of being ill.

But my boyfriend has DID and he's quite functional, I think I just wanted them to act like it doesn't make him worthless. I thought I'd be freaked out at first, too, but it's perfectly workable and - gasp- it's actually FUN to be around the different personalities. It's no different than any other disorder - people's levels of illness and incapacity vary. It helped that he let me ask every stupid question I could think of about the illness and the personalities when we started dating. It's completely understandable that you'd be freaked out, but it's just an unknown thing to you.

It's probably better that you're so leery, though; most people (or personalities) are not really interested in being dated because of a "thing" for DID any more than most people want to be dated because of a "thing" for chubbies/redheads/amputees/anything else. Most of them have enough difficulties without having someone chasing them for their illness and no real interest in them as a person.
