I miss Homestuck before Andrew decided to either flanderize or entirely overhaul all his characters into one-note jokes.

That doesn't explain John's being flanderized into a relentlessly cheerful idiot, or Rose's characterization being reduced to "grimdark grimdark grimdark" (btw, good job literally taking away her voice, Hussie), or Terezi becoming a Javert wannabe and taking a serious hit to her IQ in the process.

And frankly I'd say the change from "chill stoner comic-relief Juggalo" to "generic CRAZEE clownmurderer" is a change for the worse.

Karkat and Dave are the only complex or interesting characters anymore and they are both insufferable douches.

Having read the entirety of the comic from beginning to about [S]Seek The Highblood in one go recently, the characters haven't actually changed as much as people seem to complain.

WHO EVER KNEW SHAVING CREAM COULD BE SO FLAMMABLE.

Yeah, well I'm pretty sure that John at least used to have an emotional spectrum outside of "derphappy" and "super derphappy". He even used to be a little pissy and sarcastic in Act 1.

Now he's derphappier than Jade and that was her whole shtick.

What about his conversations with Vriska? Those were pretty recent.

As for Rose, she went grimdark really recently and even in the game where she was speaking in tongues she still had personality show through.

I guess I just can't agree?

Reading back through John's conversations since he became Godtier, I just don't see it? Like, except for the most recent flash update involving him which I think his utter derp in the face of gravest circumstances was an intentionally frustrating DEAR SWEET JOHN DOESN'T KNOW HIS FATHER IS DEAD!!!! comedy of errors kind of thing. But like, his log with Vriska about Tavros... his eyerolling at WV's driving, him cracking shipping and butler jokes with Jade...

Maybe I'm missing something?

here's why your complaints are dumb, check it:

-the only thing John has done that is any dumber than usual is leave his communication device in the hands of WV, seriously, do you fucking read his conversations? kid is actually being smarter than usual

-Rose became grimdark really really recently and it was a combination of rage and grief at her mother's murder and the influence of the Furthest Ring on a 13-year-old girl's mind! also pitiful SJ troll there.

-Terezi has been justice-obsessed since forever, and she has always had an obsession with keeping Vriska in check. This is just her acting without information; yeah her assumptions are dumb, but she has no idea Gamzee is any different than he used to be, and Vriska pre-development would totally have pulled this kind of shit.

-I don't like that Gamzee is being used as the "kill fucking everyone" truck, though
