I liked 'em all too (with the clear understanding that #1 is actually a great horror movie and the rest just popcorn gorn). I always said that as long as they kept coming up with wacky death traps and improbable twist endings, I'd keep on going.

Same. Most people don't believe me when I tell them that Saw itself is a very good film and not particularly gory :( I wish they would because you don't have to love the rest of the gorn to appreciate the first one.

I agree wholeheartedly, OP! I watched the Saw movies for the plot and the pure "OMFG WHAT" endings. I loved seeing them on opening night with a full theater because everyone would all be squirming at the traps and going batshit at the endings.

...That and I had a complete soft spot for Hoffman. I'd watch an entire spinoff francise of movies based off him.

Hoffman deserves it, too! It felt like Costas really put meat on the role in VI, but by then it was a little too late for anyone but the hardcore fans to appreciate him. I'd love to see him re-envisioned in a remake or a novel series or something, because there are a lot of little happy accidents in his makeup that form a really interesting character.

I'd totally watch a Hoffman spin-off! I wish that was happening now...

Also, although I didn't really like Saw 7, I do wish they hadn't ended. Watching on opening night was always great fun, and I still think the overall plots were good. Plus I went to see Saw 7 with a friend who overestimated her hunger so I got lots of free snacks too :P

The best part of the series was Jigsaw's 'philosophy' about appreciating what you have, not taking life for granted, and that when it came down to it you have to save yourself not wait for someone to save you..

That's what I hated about the later films in the series. The majority of the people in the traps didn't even deserve to be there. Not to mention the ones who had no chance of escaping or had to rely on someone else to save them. hat really defeated Jigsaw's "how much do you want to live?" philosophy.

I don't know if anyone said this already, but in an interview Tobin Bell stated that there probably will be a next movie. It's not set yet, but there's a slight chance. Wouldn't it be awesome?

I hadn't heard about that! That'd be so great! I didn't like Saw 7, but I still wish they hadn't ended...not liking one film out of a series of 7 isn't so bad afterall, and I miss looking forward to the next Saw. I hope this happens!

I love 1-3 very much and enjoy 4-7. Imo they weren't as fantastic as the first three but they gave it a short. The seventh movie was good but a bit of a let down since they were supposed to make an eight movie but had to shove it all into one after they cut the eighth. I'll be overjoyed though if they make another one because I do love the Saw series. I just wish Leigh would come back to write the screenplay ._. He was one of the reasons, to me, that 1-3 were amazing.

I genuinely think the 1-3 were good movies. They're some of the few horror movies where I've felt a real connection with the characters and actually cared about what was going to happen to them. I find that most of the people who diss on Saw have never actually watched it, or just were too dumb to understand the plot.

Now I wish I had a Saw icon.

I love them all except 7. I wish 7 hadn't happened, but I definitely don't want it to end. And I don't believe for a minute that it really will end, so I think you'll be happy in the end, OP. =) People like money, and Saw is good at making money.
