(Anonymous) 2011-04-26 02:44 am (UTC)(link)Also, my point with crack was that most of the same excuses heard in fandom can be used on drugs, because, now say it with me kids: just because it feels good doesn't mean it's good for you. Just because it's 'not hurting anyone else' doesn't mean it's not hurting YOU.

And yet there is no consensus in the psychological community - a search shows up as many articles criticizing the validity of the concept as not. And yet, as the former classification of homosexuality as a mental disorder shows, psychologists are certainly not immune to the prejudices of their time.
