I guess I still don't get the problems with avoiding drama. I write what I like, and if anyone bothers to read it or comment on it, that's fine. (OK, I'll be honest, it's wonderful.) If people don't like it and think that sending some flaming review will hurt me, they're in for a shock.

I also read what I like. If I find it not to my liking mid-read, I backbutton. I don't flame the author, even if it's the most awful piece of trash I've ever seen. THAT I would see as a waste of my time.

I'm in fandom to have fun, both in reading and writing. I'm not in it to improve it, or police it, or transform it, or to push some personal agenda.

(Oh, and if I found a comm that got its collective rocks off on drama? I'd likely show up now and again just for the lulz. But I certainly wouldn't participate by commenting regularly, nor would I offer anything I'd written.)

I guess it depends on your definition of drama. If you think ship fights are drama, then you shouldn't ship het ships in open canons.

I'm one of the mods on a comm and there's very little drama, but there's some. Sometimes something happens and we have to decide how to manage it. That meets some people's definition of drama, hence my saying, you know, don't mod a comm. A really good friend of mine is pretty much the most drama-free person I've ever seen who's been in fandom as long as she has, but the moment she did something popular people started talking shit about her on anon memes. Is that drama? For some people that is.

I don't know that doing that is pushing a personal agenda or policing things or transforming them or whatever. Some people like to contribute in ways that aren't just reading and writing and not having a lot of personal interactions, I guess?

People actually FIGHT over which ship is better? Why? What's the purpose?

I shipped (and wrote) Kate/Gibbs back in the day. Didn't mean I didn't enjoy the occasional Abby/Gibbs, or that I couldn't beta a Kate/Tony author. I also shipped (but never wrote) Grissom/Sara, but I certainly didn't hate on the Grissom/Catharine fics.

Anything well-written gets my approval!
