I'd agree with Zyx here. The beginning was the part I found the scariest; the remainder were kind of gross, but I didn't find them that viscerally terrifying, like most people seemed to. I've noticed people who are scared by the later chapters don't like the initial chapters as much, so it might be worth giving it a shot to see if the later chapters are more your thing.

I thought Uzumaki was amazing, either way, even if it put me into some fucked up headspace due to me staying up all night to read the entire series back-to-back. It's free on the internet so checking it out probably wouldn't be too painful.
