Morally ambiguous!Castiel I think is IC. Cas went through a huge upheaval in everything he ever knew and stood for, and then is shoved into a position of power, fighting a civil war against some of heaven's most powerful forces. Mistakes will be made. Him being flat out evil would be amazingly stupid though, because of his character arc of overcoming those odds and becoming more human.

I think Cas was one of the most innocent and moral people on the show, but he's been involved in 2 wars now. In war everyone gets their hands a little dirty :(

I don't want him to GO EVIL (AS HOT AS IT WOULD BE, character-wise it would not be cool) but he's not the same angel he was when he first showed up in the beginning of s4. He's been....for lack of a better phrase, not falling so much as sauntering vaguely downward, he was almost human for awhile there and he completely lost his faith in god & the host and that shifts your moral center. And then came the level-up and this war he's running one side of and all that will change you, too. (I really like it! But that's me.)

ngl, if Cas is half as evil as show is hinting at, I am going to ragequit. And I never ragequit. That is how fury I will be. FURY FURY FURY.

It would be COMPLETELY out of character for him to do what they're talking about, and I can handle a face-heel-turn, but not one coupled by random drama and out-of-fucking-nowhere characterization. Yeah, I get that war makes things messy, but this is getting into "lol genocide FOR THE GREATER GOOD!" territory. No. Just, no. Cas has a couple of brain cells in his head to rub together. Not even Adrian Veidt could make that sacrifice sound worth it.

Do you know how extraordinarily upright, moral, code of ethics etc, characters act when they are between a rock, where their morals might be compromised, and a hard place, where there beliefs and hope will be destroyed, in tragedy? They kill themselves. I'd rather Cas reexamine himself than go the tragic route, tbh.

He's not going evil, OP, be at peace. And remember, these morally ambiguous things he's doing them: he's doing them for these upstanding beliefs. That's the wonderful irony of his current storyline. He's so desperate he thinks he has to put aside his morals in order to protect them. Anyway, the point is that he isn't going evil. He's well-intentioned and making bad mistakes.
