I still see this episode as being problematic because RIVER thinks he died. And yes, time is constantly being rewritten, wibbly wobbly timey wimey and all that BUT.
If the effect of an action directly conflicts with its cause, then it's a paradox that cannot be self-sustaining. This is the one law to which this show has always held firm, in my experience. And if River were to be a future regeneration, post-event, then she should have some memory of its outcome from her previous life.
Which she would not.
... but I was only partially paying attention last time I watched The Three Doctors or whatever that special was called, so my comprehension of Time Lords crossing their own timeline is... a bit foggy at best. THUS...
... yeah, I don't know. As much as I would LOVE it to be true, I'm not buying. Instead, I stick to my own theory of:

Ah, I see your point. If she;s him in the future, she knos he's not dead in his current reincarnation.
However: Maybe she's lying. She knows he didn't die, but knows it's important that Amy and Rory thinks he did. Also, Canton. In fact, maybe him most of all; or why have him show up? Amy and Rory are his companions and River's... something... but Canton being there is very random.
