Well, Fellowship is the weakest one IMO because it's mostly...traveling. There's more actual adventure in the later books.

That being said, yeah, they drag.

Are the other books... Worth it? I liked the movies, and I really want to try and read the others, but... T_T'

I really enjoyed them, but I read them before the movies came out...maybe try an audiobook version, if you can find one? I think the audio books help because you can hear the songs sung and such--since Tolkien was a mythology nerd his work really does better when they're treated similarly, and myths are often told through speech, so...yeah. That might help.

If you can't make it through them, though, don't feel too bad--nothing works for everyone, and while I love LOTR Tolkien definitely breaks some writing "rules."
