I'm sad too, because by the time I got to the thread it had been frozen, and couldn't defend myself. Several people were assuming anons were me when they weren't.

For the record: I do not approve of insulting slurs, be it the ones I used in the last sentence or any others. That was just me being bitter and cynical.

Also, everything in that secret is true, although a few commenters seem to think that I'm a cis straight white dude. Sorry, no.

I'm glad I get to respond to you here at least. I didn't agree with your use of the slurs (I felt like that was pointlessly inflammatory and tarnished your message), but otherwise? Fucking agree with you, SJ is turning to injustice. I am increasingly disturbed by how many people assume I am a white straight American if I don't fit their perception of what I should/should not be offended by. Or how people are trying to censor others' fantasies because they think it is offensive to me. There are things that do offend me. But I prefer the right to choose, and use the back button. There is enough censorship.

FWIW, I kind of agree with you. Not necessarily because of the reasons you stated, but because I'm sick of seeing all the bullying. Because that's what it is - plain, simple bullying; it's no better than pushing around a kid on the playground. While the goals of SJ are admirable, the entire "movement" (at least in fandom) has turned into a caricature of itself; it really is just, atm, an excuse for people to bully and to shame others into running away. Instead of trying to get people to understand ("That word is offensive to me, could you please not use it in that manner anymore? Here is why.), people are focused instead on punishing ("You misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, cisgendered, white, male pig, you're disgusting, go die in a fucking fire."). Which just creates a culture of fear with underpinnings of hatred and frustration (which you see all the time in F!S) instead of a culture of understanding, which is what we should be aiming for.

Bullying is not the answer, kids. But try to tell the SJers that.
