Ugh, I wish we could find some happy medium. But that's too much to be asking for, because the issues are so charged. Like, I'm pretty laid-back and chill and open to explaining to people why what they're doing is offensive, but even I lose my cool sometimes and just want to type a bunch of curse words at them. (Esp. at the guy in the forum. After I said gender = socially-constructed, he said something along the lines of "lol, so testosterone and estrogen are socially-constructed because they have an effect on gender identity?" and ... no. How does a guy graduate college with a biology degree without knowing what I knew in high school?)

I'm just ranting now. But ... yeah. I think it's pretty clear when someone is being deliberately offensive and just making a mistake, and I wish people didn't adopt one single strategy with dealing with both groups of people. (Even if you're wrong in your assessment, you can usually tell by the second comment if they're worth the time and effort.) Idkkkkk. Whenever people and emotions get involved, it turns messy.
