I'm not sure official Who canon is going to kill off Sarah Jane, so you may be able to just imagine she's still there, protecting them.

I kept wondering about this for days after her death. I had nightmares about the characters on the show missing Sarah Jane.
But maybe she won't die in canon. A few months ago, I was talking to someone about how the series would end. Obviously we didn't know Lis Sladen was sick and going to die, but we thought the series might end soon anyway just because the kids were growing up and it would be weird to replace them over and over.
We agreed we didn't want Sarah Jane to die or retire or anything, we just wanted them to end the series with a shot of her and the kids, still ready to go off on more adventures. So I'm hoping we get something like that, where she lives on in canon and we can believe that she's still out there dealing with aliens and being amazing. ♥

I like to think they'll be okay - if nothing else, they've learnt all they know from the very best, right? But, in my mind, like the Brigadier, they're going on together, still having adventures ♥.

This has been bugging me for awhile now. In the situation where they do kill off Sarah Jane, I imagine Luke might inherit the house? Rani and Clyde seem perfectly capable of saving the day on their own.

Personally, I'd love to see Rani become a regular companion for the Doctor too. She's too great of a character to just leave there.

I don't really think they'll kill of Sarah Jane, though. Much like how Nick Courtney's death didn't really affect canon either.

I'm interested to know how they'll handle it. The BBC are pretty open when it comes to dealing with things like death in children's programmes, so it could be they do create an episode where Sarah Jane has gone, and the kids are left to carry on her work. Or they could do a tribute episode, and end it with the kids clearly taking over, and just leave it as Sarah Jane having gone.
