I'm not sure this is entirely an inhuman response to this situation, anon.

A lot of literature is written (and read) to help the author (or reader) deal with issues and explore them in a safe environment. Your decision to write comfort when faced with a story as upsetting as that could be seen as you trying to find sense in a very senseless act.

Of course, there's also word-association. I know that certain names always remind me of fictional characters, regardless of how common, and if you're active in SPN it's not too far fetched to think that you would respond similarly to any mention of a name in that cast. The fact it was placed at the end of this paragraph is just unfortunate. Would you have felt the same if the post had ended with 'Dave' or 'Anon'?

My first thought may actually have been worse when I read the secret; "But shouldn't it be the other way around with Alastair and hell and such?" I probably wouldn't write anything about that, though if you do choose to do so, I would avoid mentioning where you were inspired, and to tread delicately around the subject.

I would have too. Altough I can't seem to get past my incest squick to ship Sam/Dean, I'm totally convinced that Dean was raped by Alistair in hell (and that it became consentual when he stepped off the rack). I ship Alistair/Dean strongly. Dean and Alistair 2 had insane amounts of chemistry. I always feel dirty (not quite as dirty as when I read Lucifer/Sam, thoug), but I can't help shipping.

I have...weird feelings about Sam/Dean. I understand why people ship it, and the incest doesn't squick me, I definitely see it, it's just their closeness and codependency that stops any shippy feelings. Like, I feel that if they did ever end up in a sexual relationship, they'd cut themselves off from the world and would spiral down into an even more unhealthy state.

The rape is implied as heavily as possible considering it's the CW (I literally can not think of another way to interpret what Alastair could mean when he starts singing 'dancing from cheek to cheek'). I also ship Sam/Lucifer and also feel guilty. Dude, Lucifer shows up in his bed as his dead girlfriend, and says later that they're MFEO, while everyone around has made major sexual connotations with Sam being the vessel. What are you doing to me show? D:

I have an incest squick stemming from some family stuff so while I can see the chemistry, I can't ship them. It was wierd for the first three seasons because there wasn't really anything else to ship, and they didn't really have chemistry with anyone else. I shop Dean/Cas now as well as Dean/Alistair, but I still don't really have a Sam OTP. I like him with Lucifer, and I'll read him with Gabriel, but I just don't have a happy OTP with him. He has as much right to a happy ending as Dean, but so far there isn't anyone I think he has enough chemistry with.

I totally think it is canon that Alistair raped Dean, though my belief that it turned consentual probably isn't. But it was hell, and Dean was being tortured in every way imaginable. I can't imagine that rape wasn't part of that. And Alistair was obsessed with Dean in a way that read sexual to me.
