The see-through mirror thing is a scrim. Which is kind of a cool material, if looking up info on it makes you feel any better/less creeped out? :)

I guess it is kinda creepy! But for me it's mostly sad/sweet, especially when Snape hangs back for a second and sees Lily. Awww! (I think I'm doing it wrong too, because I LOVE the very few legit dramatic and/or sweet moments to death. Like, it's a COMEDY. Stop trying to Nicholas Sparks it up, self.)
