It's a show called Lie To Me, but you might be disappointed. Eli Loker is initially set up as an interesting character who practices 'radical honesty', but his character quickly abandons that and does some really douchey things in the early episodes. Basically, he went from being my favorite character to my least favorite, then slowly crept back up to favorite. He kind of... quietly gets put through the wringer in a way that really appeals to me, and my fannish mind tries to find explanations for his contradictory behavior. Like, he's extremely devoted to his boss in that he worked without pay for an indeterminate amount of time and has made himself the target of a gunman in order to save his boss. At the same time, the show acts like he's positioned to jump ship at any moment. IDK. Sorry for the wall of text!

Ohh, this is Lie To Me? I've been meaning to get into that anyway. And to be honest, your description of this guy is really fascinating to me, and I'm genuinely intrigued by his character. I mean, normal human beings are full of contradictions constantly. I always find my behavior contradicting itself, and what I do doesn't always reflect how I feel or think. So if anything, this guy sounds refreshingly human. ^^ Thanks for the summary, I'm definitely excited to finally watch this show.

I hope you enjoy it! I might look around for an abandoned Lie To Me LJ comm and try dusting it off.

I wish I knew who you were at the time I was watching Lie To Me (I stopped early this season) because I was thinking exactly the same things and wanted someone to babble with about him and you're right, there's not really any fandom interest in him at all.

(and damn do i wish he'd kept the radical honesty)

Ah, so is this season not so good? I've only actually seen the first two seasons. Well, if you are interested in babbling, I might try dusting off an LJ comm somewhere. Let me know and I'll drop you a link if I do.

It wasn't that it was bad as such, just rather that it felt like it wasn't doing anything new? And I got sick of the status quo- loker didn't seem to be getting anywhere with his all-over-the-place characterisation and there's only so much of Lightman that I could handle. Although thinking about this all again is making me considering watching it.

So yes, I guess that makes me interested. XD

I'd be interested - I'm just getting into Lie to Me, and I'm bursting to babble for a lot of the same reasons. :)

I'm nowhere near finished with the series, but I'm starting to think it'll eventually be revealed that Loker's jump-ship attempts are almost ... I'm not quite sure how to phrase this, but almost a cry for help. He hero worships Lightman so much, I wonder if all he wants is to hear him say, "No, Loker. Don't go. We want you here." Which, let's be honest, he won't get until Lightman starts seeing him as person.
