ANIME/MANGA: Nurarihyon no Mago, Ao no Exorcist, Gintama, Reborn, BakaTest, Mononoke, Amatsuki, Tegami Bachi, One Piece, Cuticle Detective Inaba, Baccano!, Fairy Tail, Tiger and Bunny.
BOOKS: Lord of the Rings, Black Jewels Trilogy, Nightrunner series, The Etched City, Temeraire series, Neverwhere, Good Omens, Discworld, Preston and Child Pendergast books.

AND, Latin and Japanese! I'm a dual major in those two, and am also shooting for some sort of translator gig eventually. I'd love to commiserate with you, and geek out over them besides.

And whoa, double major Latin and Japanese - officially envious/impressed! Adding like the wind, if I may be so bold.
Thesis is.. supposedly on usages/appearances/aspects of youkai in the series Nurarihyon no Mago, more largely on the place of ancient/traditional culture in modern society. I wanted to look at more than one series, and check out localisation issues, but was quickly told that's more like a PhD. and was sad.

And dude, that's a totally awesome thesis. I'm not familiar with that series, but it sounds like something really neat to research -- too bad about the localization part! If I could just write a bunch of papers picking apart translation and localization choices, I would be so happy.
