Still all about the characters for me. If it's well-written and believable, and isn't just a random excuse to throw two attractive male characters at each other and strip them of their personalities as well as their clothes, then I'm all for it. Some of my favourite fics in several fandoms are yaoi (or in some cases just shoenen-ai) and I've written some myself, I'm just not very good at it.
