It always confused me that she had so many other craft materials, but only three books. Like, she had PAPIER MACHE stuff! And pots and wax and wicks for bloody candlemaking! It seems ridiculous that she wouldn't have more than only three books.

Maybe it was on purpose? Gothel could have limited the number of books to keep Rapunzel from becoming too curious about the outside world. Then again, why teach her to read at all? Idk idk. /two cents

It would have been a risk to give Rapunzel books which made the outside world look good. The books she does have are about gardening and geology and baking, if I remember correctly. No references to people or having adventures or love. Plus, crafts keep Rapunzel busy. Books keep her thinking.

This was my thought too. I feel like I'm doing it wrong, but I'd be fine locked up somewhere for my life it that somewhere was a library. But leave me with only a few books and I lose it as soon as I finish them.

It is my headcanon that Rapunzel's parent's gave Rapunzel the library in the same way that Beast/Adam gave Belle the library, as a way to connect with her after not seeing her for seventeen years... ^^;

But, yeah, THREE????

Now, if one of them was a magic book that was the magic equivalent of a kindle...?

It was the books that killed me. That, and never seeing the ocean. ^_^'
