No, really?
And no, an eternity of the hell Anthy endured is nowhere near a "small price" to pay for not actively thinking. If you want to go through life being 100% passive and without any sort of agency, then fine, that's your choice. But to write off emotional, verbal, physical, psychological, and sexual abuse as "a small price" is complete and utter ignorance.
Seriously, what the fuck.
Also, some flaws in your secret: Anthy was never an unthinking individual - anyone that manipulative has to be thinking at least a little. A lot, if not most, of her smiles were lies and cover ups. And she frequently found underhanded ways of obtaining power and hurting other people out of bitterness and anger. Hardly a passive, smiling doll who just happens to exist.

THANK YOU!!! I don't get where people get this from, unless they've never watched the whole series. Anthy knew what she was doing the entire time; how much Akio was controlling her, however, is a different matter, which I think viewers see more and more of as time progresses.

I like to think of it as they're both manipulating each other to varying degrees, with the outcomes only really benefiting Akio in the short and long term (or at least they are less detrimental to him). Although a part of me suspects that Anthy ended up doing the majority of the behind-the-scenes work.
