I'm willing to bet that most people in the US don't have a problem with gay people, it's just the vocal minority hate groups that get heard. It's that way with most things.

Going by that logic, everyone in the US is a homophobic, Bible-thumping creationist prude. Just like everyone in Ireland is a drunk leprechaun who wears green and chases rainbows; everyone in France dresses like a mime, has a tiny moustache, wears a beret, and is a poetry snob; everyone in China wears straw hats and has a panda for a pet, etc. etc. etc.

Nothing's forcing the Ugandan goverment to listen, though. Nothing's forcing them to give these people the time of day rather than treat them like the idiotic bigots they really are. It's not like the US government went over there and forced them to write this bill. It's a few douchebags who want to manipulate people overseas because they realize that the US is becoming increasingly gay-friendly, as is most of the world, so they want their bigoted footholds wherever they can jam a boot into.
