I don't see the need to lie. I started in new and mostly operate in classic/bfa fandom now but I never felt the need to lie about starting with Ten.

Just have fun and watch the show, likeing. :)

It doesn't matter when you start, anon: the fact that you enjoyed TIA episode enough to go back and catch up should be more than enough for anyone who isn't... you know, elitist.

I don't think you're a bad person for this or anything, OP, but I'm honestly confused as to why you would do this? Did you just not have time to watch? And if so, why not just say that?

Plus it kinda seems like you're cheating yourself - I mean, personally I'd much rather watch a series than just read all the plot summaries, where's the entertainment in that? o.0

Why not? A lie is a lie.

If anything, the fact that you would lie about something so trivial, that doesn't really benefit you or anyone else in any way, actually makes it worse.

Huh. Are you from outside the UK? I can kinda see a motive to lie there if that's the case. I have a friend who's a "Doctor Who" fan who can't download episodes. As in, literally can't- she got caught torrenting by her ISP a few years ago and got in a whole mess of trouble for it and could be in really serious trouble if it ever happened again. So, no downloading. And, well...lagging a year behind the rest of the fandom made it not fun for her anymore, and she fell out of it. You can't really hang out with the other fans if you're that far behind and don't want to spoil the DVDs for yourself by reading episode summaries. :-/

So, assuming you can't access the episodes legally, but still want to participate in fandom, you picked the method of participation you could manage, and sometimes, explaining that sucks. (Every time- every time- I post about having not seen something, people leave me comments about where I can download it. This is not the sort of thing my friend who can't download appreciates in her LJ, so...seriously, bye-bye, fandom.)

Of course, I've spun a whole narrative on your possible reasons that may not have anything to do with your reality here. But on the offchance this is it, OP, I understand.
