But if we can't hate them, then by that logic we can't like them either. And by that logic we can't like/hate any inanimate objects.. Sure grapes taste nasty but it makes no sense to hate them because they are inanimate and can't even, like, do anything about it. Derp.
Sorry but most people don't follow that weird line of thought, especially in fandom.
