Well, let's look at the secret again.

First, let's note that Steph doesn't even get a name. She's "this white girl." Note that WHITE GIRL is in red. This is her title within the secret. Also note that the OP says that they love this character.

We go on to see that the OP resents Steph. The explanation we get for this is because white girl will probably get more attention than Cass.

That to me heavily indicates that the ONLY thing wrong with Steph is that she's white. If the secret had simply said that "Steph will probably get more attention than Cass," it would indicate a character preference. But because it's "White girl" who will probably get more attention, we see that the problem here is with Steph's race.

So in my assholish reply, I advised OP to deal with it by pretending that Steph isn't white. If the problem with Steph is that she's white, and you force her to not be white, there's no problem!
