I love him in truly quirky roles (Cry-Baby, Arizona Dream, Ed Wood) but it really was great to see him play a character like Sands. I'd love to see him break away from Burton and pirates for a while and work with Rodriguez or Tarantino (or anyone new) and take on something really unexpected.
If I were able to run into my any of my favorite directors who've created some of my favorite characters, I'd have done the same (and proceed to embarrass myself in the process)!
