Maybe it has something to do with having to rely on your wits, possibly others, and how everyone is basically brought down to the same level?

It would kind of end the point of money/trade if your just living day to day trying to survive, taking what you need. There's not much room for luxury or to be stingy when you've lost everything of material value over anyone else.

Just saying that for some, surviving seems like a better worthwhile goal than what assume is the status quo in reality (get a job, make money, get mortage, family, retire, general accumulation of wealth).
