Honey, I know how you feel. I once had a sex dream about a really hot actor from one of the shows I watch, and I felt horrible afterwards instead of good, because I kept thinking that he'd never have me in real life.
But they ARE celebrities, and we wouldn't get them anyway, so let your imagination go wild. I've gotten over it.
And hey, no matter how funny-looking you think you are, I'm sure there are hot guys who'd love you and who think you're beautiful. I've shut down dating possibilities with hot guys who liked me before, because I thought I wasn't good enough for them, not realizing that if they were already interested in me, they probably weren't suddenly going to think "Wow, she's ugly, I should stop dating her!" after we got closer.

I find this really weird. I mean, it's hard for me to get the concept of choosing who you crush on . I mean, choosing to get more involved, yes. But both in the fan context, as in real life, I don't see crushes as choices, really.

Oh, and some traditionally good-looking guys do go for non-traditional girls. some people want exactly the opposite of what they have...

Aw, I'm sure you're not as "funny looking" as you think. Diversity is what makes people interesting and attractive. If the world was filled with only Brad Pitts it'd be sooo boring.

You should let go and allow yourself to crush on celebrities. Sure, they're unattainable, but I've found they help solidify what type of person you are attracted to. It's not likely Brad is gonna leave Angelina for you (or any fan for that matter), but it is more likely you may meet an awesome guy with similar features as Brad. And you'll be able to more easily recognize them.

I don't crush on traditionally hot celebrities not because I don't think I could ever get someone physically out of my league (it's happened once or twice) but because I like a relationship dynamic better when he isn't super classically handsome. That tends to carry over into my celebrity crushes (though the not-traditionally-handsome celebs aren't exactly hurting for fangirls, either.)

As much as I prefer the aesthetics of hot men, in real life, day to day, I'd take a quirky looking one every time.

I feel the same way. At my age and weight I can't believe someone gorgeous getting with me even in a fantasy.

(Which, OK, is silly as it's my fantasy, not something I'm expecting to happen, but there it is.)

the real issue is whether you have a bad personality or not. in my observation even "funny looking" people have fine success with dating providing they are just fun to be around.

also, you may just not like Brad Pitt cuz you don't think he's that attractive for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure IRL he is very attractive, but as only a screen entity he isn't that appealing.

Pffft... I went through a phase when I crushed like crazy on Louis XIV. Yeah, the actual historical figure. Trust me, there is nothing wrong with fantasy, it is liberating!

Also, if you did have a chance in hell with any of these conventionally attractive celebrities, you would quickly discover that they are just like all other people without the celebrity status and be very disappointed by the relationship. And another thing; don't refer to yourself as 'funny looking'-- attraction is a subjective thing. You don't have to fill some social norm for someone to crush on you!
