It seems like the standard reaction is to either laugh it off and consider it a phase, or to assume that there is something horribly wrong with the person because they "must be broken somehow." :/

Ugh, that's terrible. It's stuff like that that makes me want to shake the person and say "Why can't we all just get along and accept everyone's different? ;_;"

I agree :( I've gotten told that no I can't be asexual and that I will have sexual feelings for someone eventually. This was said by a girl who attended Gay-Straight Alliance meetings with me.

I went to a queer community counselor, hoping he would understand better since he worked with people who were different like me. The first thing he said after I told him I was asexual was "You just haven't met the right _______" I was like 0_o, and wondering how he would have felt had I told him, "You're not gay, you just haven't met the right woman."
