Oh for Christ's sake. NO THEY DIDN'T.

The pirates aren't helping your chosen field thrive by any stretch of the imagination, but the gaming industry is not some ~magical world~ where it's safe from fucking extreme economic downturns. Guess what people spend less money on when they have less money overall?

That's right! Luxury items like video games!

Because, hey, most of us would rather pay our bills and put gas in our cars than spend $60+ on something that (while it might be fun) won't keep us from going into collections and ruining our credit ratings.

I get why you're upset, believe me, I do - I'm looking for a job myself right now - but going around this thread blaming individuals because you were downsized is fucking ridiculous. (I was going to say that if you'd wanted job security you should have gone into a field like geriatric medicine, but hey, even that's not safe these days.)

Actual, luxury spending is currently UP but the entertainment industry is still crashing.

ALSO, your logic is entirely flawed, because the entertainment industry has THRIVED in every economic downturn and depression except for this one. Instead, there have been RECORD amounts of pirating during this recession.

So your whole rant about how people aren't spending money cause like the economy, maaaaaan, just doesn't fly, because if anything people are known for throwing money at this stuff during a recession. But somehow they didn't for this one I WONDER WHY

Uh, the games I produced cost less than a gallon of gas. Less than a meal at McDonalds, and less than it would cost at the laundrymat to do three loads of laundry.

So it's okay to steal luxury items if you can't afford them? This is new thinking!

And when I REALLY want some expensive piece of something, like a new doohicky for my computer, or a new game, guess what I do? BUDGET FOR IT or I DON'T GET IT. I don't steal it then pat myself on the back for saving a couple of bucks.
