I like this secret a lot.

Flopped really? I thought that means when a movie doesn't make more than it cost. I guess it's the Waterwold situation again, huh?

A production typically needs to make back three times what it cost, actually, once you factor in distribution and marketing. Atlantis didn't. Domestically, it didn't even make back the original budget.

It didn't do too badly, but it wasn't the success Disney expected.

I had Esmeralda pajamas as a little girl. I wore them until it was at least three years past acceptable.

Also, you can always tell who's a "main" princess by which ones have bridal gowns. Tiana has one and it's probably the prettiest one. Rapunzel is getting one, too.

I had Esmeralda sneakers/an Esmerald sweater as a kid, too. But then again this was around the time the movie came out, so yeah. (I think I had a sticker book, too, if I recall correctly)

I used to have an Esmeralda dress/costume and wanted to wear it everywhere. I think I was allowed to wear it when we went to the video rental store once.

I had an Esmeralda bathrobe. It was my favourite piece of "clothing".

I still have a bath towel featuring her. Although it's kind of threadbare and faded now...

I hear you, man. But I'm still disappointed about it. :P

Also that's a great picture of her.

I don't entirely disagreeing, but... what would be the harm in including them in group affairs? There's plenty of merchandise -- T-shirts and whatnot that feature flat images -- involving group pictures of the lot, and I don't see how it would be a problem to put them all in. (Including Jane and Nala.)

(I'm more inclined to believe that the lack of inclusion for Pocahontas is more because of the backlash Disney received over their butchering of history than anything else, personally...)

I don't think Pocahontas is necessarily unpopular, but I agree with everything else. I hardly remember that movie. It can out during a year of numerous animation flops (Treasure Island, anyone?)

Agree so hard with this. Although now I would love to see Nala in a poofy dress :D

The problem I found with Kida is yeah she had did a lot of powerful shit, but none of it was really HER doing. She just had a bit of time whining, then some time leading Milo around then she spends a while in a box. Then the magic rocks control her and 'she' saves the day.

I'd take Audrey over her.

I always thought Pocahontas was quite popular and the only reason she isn't a part of the Disney princess line is because she isn't explicitly "a princess".

But still...it does annoy me that certain princesses get no merchandise at all. There were fans of the lesser-known princesses. There are likely millions of Altantis, Pocahontas, Tarzan, etc. fans worldwide. At least give them a little bit of merch. :(

I had heaping piles of Lion King merchanidise, and still have a lot of it, much of it including Nala. I first found out about that movie from the Nala figurine I got in a Burger King kid's meal... I don't have a point really other than Nala rocks.
