I'm the exact opposite of this. I skip the sex scenes. At least in slash fic. I'm not a prude or a 'phobe or anything. I just find them boring. *shrug*

Ditto. I'm an avid slash reader/writer, but these days, I don't bother reading the sex bits anymore. Or sex scenes in general, actually. It's just boring and overdone. And I've never really enjoyed writing them, so I avoid it when I can.

I'm the same. Mostly because slash sex scenes (or fanfic sex scenes in general) are usually written in the most boring, samey way. If you've read one, you've read them all.

Ha! Me too, esp. when there are just too many sex scenes.

In a long plotty fic, a good sex scene can... defuse tension. But sometimes in an otherwise fine fic the sexy times pop up every 10 pages, like the author is afraid the author will wander off without constant supply of porn.

Some writers write great porn, but never write PWPs. Their great porn is always part of a big story.

You're the opposite of me, then. I always feel like I'm doing a dis-service to the author by always skipping over all the sex scenes!

Plus, I love reading kink memes. So a lot of the time I'm literally reading around the sex scenes...in porn.

I think this is a refreshing change from the dozens of more or less identical and rather boring "I always skip the sex scenes when I read fic" secrets.

Sometimes I skip to sex scenes to see how the rest of it will probably be written. So if there is a weird (unintentional) power balance or it's hastily written without an attention to detail, etc... You can tell a lot about an author by the way they write their sex scenes.

Me too, most of the time. But I think my reason is that most fics have gotten too boring for my taste.
