I always read them as epic BFFs, but I loved them so much there, too. ♥ And I can recognize why people slash them. Buuut...

Yeah, I was mostly into the BFF and obvious bond between them. The slashing was an added dressing on top I enjoyed now and then.

But man, the movie didn't even include some of their best scenes and those they had were seriously abridged. Boo.

I have to admit, although I can see potential in the idea of slashing them together (and I would be really interested in the socio-political ramifications of Legolas x Gimli, especially considering that Legolas brought Gimli with him to Valinor...), I have yet to find a fic of it that I really like. Granted, I haven't looked very deeply, so I could very well be missing good ones...

But anyway, yes! I liked what they had in there, but I was really hoping for their deal about visiting Fangorn and Helm's Deep, at least. :(
