This would be a pet peeve of mine, too, OP. Receding hairlines are incredibly sexy to me. (But then again I also like widow's peaks, so it probably has something to do with that) And...just... He doesn't look as distinguished without it.

I see what you're saying. Artists shouldn't erase what they perceive as a character's "flaws" when drawing them. In this case particularly, the man is aging gracefully and looks all the better for it. I personally thought Law looked better in this movie than he had in years (though I could just be biased because Watson is my favorite).

Jude Law is definitely handsome, and his Watson is the main reason I'm looking forward to the new movie, but the hair-line made about zero impression on me one way or another. I'm just glad people make actual drawn fanart at all.
