While I think that the reunion was simply a "how can we mess up Danny's life the most when everything goes to hell in the season finale" and not really a good plot direction, I simply cannot judge.

Right there with ya, OP. Not everyone minds the cheating thing when fictional characters do it, but it really bothers me. And it didn't seem very in character for Danny.

Also, I was kinda surprised because until then I'd gotten the feeling that Danny was pretty much over Rachel, just not completely over the way she left him (and took Grace with her).

Never seen the show, but I simply cannot abide by grown men who go by "Danny." Same with "Jimmy" and "Tommy." It's like...are they still 5 years old?

I did lose some respect for Danny. I don't care how much he doesn't like her husband, and feels that he is just "getting her back." She was still married and it's wrong to cheat. I think they just used it as a way to make a cliffhanger for Danny, though. Having to chose between leaving Steve in jail for something he didn't do and leaving your wife and kids to help your partner is a pretty f-ed up choice to make. I think it's obvious he'll choose Steve, but I might be biased since I ship them like burning. :P

But honestly, who leaves Hawaii to return to New Jersey? That's like leaving Heaven for the depths of Hell. O_O

I've just marathoned this show and I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS~ (tl;dr warning)

I think it's obvious he'll choose Steve as well, not because of shipping, but because this is his partner's LIFE and career at stake; Steve could be in jail forever/die if he doesn't help him, whereas there's a chance he could reconcile with Rachel (again) later. I'm hoping though, that while he's trying to get Steve out of trouble, he'll realise what a stupid idea it would be to run away with Rachel and reconsider - (yes I hated that Danny/Rachel got together while she was married; it felt out of the blue and out of character for him, and this season I really liked that we were being shown two exes who were getting closer/respecting each other again WITHOUT jumping into bed - I guess that was too much to hope for). I know the characters won't realise it, but THEY BROKE UP FOR A REASON (Danny was too into his work etc), NOT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER. THAT REASON HASN'T CHANGED; JUMPING BACK INTO BED WON'T MAGICALLY FIX EVERYTHING!!

Oh god and I haven't even mentioned the pregnancy yet; argh I hate pregnancy plot devices so much; in this case, it would mean Danny/Rachel hooked up way before we were shown, and wtf, when did that happen? And yet I'm not calling the finale a hack, cause I KNOW Danny's family is everything to him and he would follow them everywhere; the show just took a turn I personally didn't care for.

Anyway, all this is a really minor concern, I fucking loved the finale and thought it was thrilling; if Danny/Rachel doesn't happen next season (extremely unlikely) I will be very happy. I've been trying to think of why I like the show so much; it's certainly not the best/most original procedural, and someone said it's more like the action/adventure shows of the 80s, and that's it - I don't watch it because of believability and adherence to protocol, but because of the fucking awesome antics and ninja Steve and awesome team interaction (and Chin, Kono and Steve are all hot as fuck - I just can't find Danny attractive).

I agree, just because they are having sexual chemistry with one another again doesn't mean they can sustain their relationship. Danny still is totally into his work and now he'll be working 24/7 to get Steve out of jail and help Kono. So he can't possibly be with Rachel unless she decides she's willing to lose him to his work again and take care of the kids. I just think it'd be wrong of her to go to NJ with his unborn child because he clearly loves his kids and she can't take them away from him. I don't really care for the Danny/Rachel plotline either, which I think is the fandom's majority opinion. I think the writers just did it to make it hard for Danny to stay in Hawaii and give him more problems lol.

And yes, the finale was incredible and it nearly gave me a heart attack. I was FLIPPING OUT! So maybe the show isn't the best written, isn't the most original show ever, but all the team members have amazing chemistry with one another and they just make it work. And they're all easy on the eyes (Danny included, IMO). :P And Danny and Steve are so corny with one another that the show is really funny. XD Not to mention the gorgeous scenery. Damn, I need to get to Hawaii!
