the dude's whole point was to make her cry. all she did was fetch a cup at the end.

It came of like some weird filler for people who wanted more "TRAGIC ROMANCE :'(" in the movie (like the last two?). Was I supposed to be invested in them???

I am 80% certain the character only existed so Jack could say, "I support the missionary's position." And then they built the storyline with the mermaid around that.

I actually totally support the inclusion of the character for that reason, tbh. They're clearly at the point where they're writing the script around Jack's lines, and that was definitely the funniest line in the movie.

I think the fact that they're ridiculously beautiful is the only reason why I didn't roll my eyes at their romance during the film. Serena was so breathtakingly gorgeous - I can see why he was immediately charmed by her.

Sadly enough, my male roommate said the movie didn't impress him, but wants to go back and see it again. He sort of mumbles about mermaids as he walks by. Proof in action that it works! XD

The movie was entertaining, I'll admit, but it just didn't have the same luster as the other films. I'm pretty sure it wasn't due to the lack of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly - that was one of the more positive aspects.

TBH, I was bored by the whole movie - except for those two. =/
