Seriously, OP. We live in the age of antibiotics and indoor plumbing and electricity and insulation without asbestos (for some, anyway, certainly for both the actor and the character getting pregnant here). Just because some things are dangerous/serious/screwed up right now? Doesn't change the fact that, particularly (but not only) for people in the first world, this is the single best possible moment to be alive in human history so far.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons not to want to have children/all fictional characters to fall into default family plots, but the idea that having children today is irresponsible because of the risk to the child?

It's just dumb.
