>Men and women treated EXACTLY the same
>No one gets more or less than the other
>Completely equal
>OP feels the need to bitch about it because devs don't make an entirely new experience so OP can feel like a ~*speshul snowflake*~

SIIIIIGH

The problem is that the devs are beginning from the male perspective and assuming that applies also to a female protagonist. Equality =/= being the same. I'd wager all those games would be very different had they written them with a female protagonist in mind first.

Different how? I don't want to see Shepard being more "caring" or "sweet" or with less confidence just because she is a woman.

You make it sound like "caring" and "sweet" are bad things because they're stereotypically feminine traits. I think it would be interesting to write a female protagonist who is "caring" and "sweet" first and then switch the pronouns so the male protagonist also adopts that personality. It's the assumption of male as the default that I find most grating.

That said, Shepard being a soldier does call for a certain degree of stereotypical masculinity for male or female, given the environment. But I feel like there's a difference between the way a man approaches a stereotypically masculine environment like the military and the way a woman would approach it. A woman would be more conscious of the fact that it is a masculine environment, I think. But exactly how you would work that into writing... idk. I'm just speculating.

No, I don't think they are "bad things" and I didn't say they are bad things by themselves, but I don't want to see Shepard suddenly acting like that because she happens to be a woman

Some women are simply not feminine, sweet or *nurturing* (I sure as hell aren't , and I'm still a woman), not matter how much you want them to be.

I don't want to see Shepard or Hawke turned into Samus from Other M

That said, I find your idea interesting.

Except other characters in the games ARE treated like women and men, differently based on their genders.

Beyond that, though, I guess you can take from it what you will.
