...you can accept dragons, demons, Darkspawn, aliens of all stripes, space travel, robots, and pan-galactic politics, but an absence of sexism is completely unrealistic?

Social realism =/= physical realism. That's why we have demons and darkspawn and robots and fantastic racism.

Certainly there is plenty to be said for keeping to social and emotional realism in a fantastic stage, yes - that's why we can still connect to speculative fiction. At the same time, however, if we're accepting alterations to society and societal prejudices in other areas, there is absolutely no reason to ignore the possibility of a society that never developed gender-based prejudices.

(Also, some of the OP's claims aren't even valid, but that's a different issue based on the specific games.)
