Because it's limited to people who think in a very systematic way. People who think creatively and/or outside of the box in any way are obviously morons. O.O Also, the tests do not take into account the seven intelligences. For instance, my brother may lack inductive reasoning, but he can figure out movie scores on the piano after hearing them once or twice (musical intelligence). I want a standardized test for that (though I'd fail).

And the really scary part is that this sort of testing, combined with the way education is structured, can (and often does) stamp out creative thinking and other forms of intelligence.

I used to write stories, poems, and songs. I used to be able to easily understand abstract philosophy. I used to think outside the box. My college experience killed it all. And what do I have to show for it? I'm not even working in my field because the only jobs out there are in the fucking service industry (good job, America. We've created an economy that's completely unsustainable. The recent collapse will not be the last, nor the worst). Sometimes I wish I'd never bothered with the whole degree thing. I'd be in the exact same position, but at least I'd still be able to fucking write.
