Dude, what? People like that have always been in the indie scene. In fact, they're attracted to the indie scene because of their yearning for elitism. It doesn't actually have anything to do with music or fashion for them; it's all about self-aggrandizement. They erroneously believe that liking obscure things and being "non-conformist" makes them better than other people. Never mind that going against the mainstream just for the sake of going against the mainstream still, in its own way, makes you a conformist. And also never mind that liking a certain band has nothing to do with whether or not you're a decent person.

The good thing is that most people grow out of that attitude. But for those who don't, well...they're the ones who are missing out in the end, because they can't actually just sit back and enjoy the music.
