I really wish I had more friends I knew in person who I could play games with, and who also wouldn't mind when I joke about what we're playing, not to mention also bringing their own input too. I end up being the only person in the room making fun of how dumb, let's say, the Uncharted games are when they try really hard to be like the movies. They laugh, sure, but I have a hard time telling if they're just humouring me or just not chatty when they play.

I guess going on skype or ventrilo and streaming might do the trick with online friends, but I don't know. LPing looks like so much fun :(

lucky for me, i grew up with sisters and myself commentating through most games, not to mention friends as well. but, really, don't feel bad about it, you will find someone someday.

try playing more MMOs (with some kind of voice chat enabled), or in IRL, more fighting games or co-op/party games :) something that semi-forces you to chat casually.

Heh, I always wished I had siblings to play video games with me.
Sadly, my first brother was born eleven years after I was and he's still not old enough/has enough of an attention span to play most games.

I have an older brother, and it was always more so him playing with me just watching. Definitely not the same sort of atmosphere. And I don't have very many friends, so it's hard to play games with them irl.

Idk, I'm always told "one day" things will work out, but it doesn't make right now any easier.

Same thing with my brother and I. I used to watch him play NES games like Castlevania and Dragon Warrior. Not exactly co-op games, but I liked watching. Except he was more into playing it and let me watch along. :/

The thing with playing games with friends IRL is that now with Xbox Live and PSN it's almost obsolete. I had co-workers that sometimes we'd play games, but usually it was over the internet with voice chat despite living in the same city.

Yeah I have like no gamer friends either. I'm kinda OK with it; I have friends that I can talk with about other cool things. But I never get to play multiplayer. :/

I feel the same way and it kinda sucks, honestly. Any time I watch Starcraft streams or Let's Plays or even MMOs, it always seems like everyone else has people they know IRL who they play along side and have fun with. The few people I really converse with IRL don't play games much at all, and when they do they honestly aren't very good at it so they get bored quickly.

Of course, the two IRL friends I really have also got high school girlfriends pregnant and now both have babies at 18 years old and are stuck working minimum wage while I'm in college, so maybe that has something to do with it too.

So do something about it. Ask if you can come along, invite them and their friends over to play games. Santa's not going to leave people under your tree to play with; a big part of getting into a group of gamers is just going for it.

Story of my fucking life! Ugh, all throughout high school it was hard to geek out. My friends played some video games, but not a lot. The worst was when I was really into FFVIII. NONE of them played it and had no idea what I was talking about. :(

I've been on the otherside too. I play a lot of games with my boyfriend and I sometimes feel bad that other people can't enjoy or chime in on our conversations. Like if we're playing a MMO we don't usually type or talk much because we're talking out loud to each other.

I don't know what types of games you play, OP, but if there's any sort of guild aspect join one that uses Ventrilo or Teamspeak a lot. Doesn't have to be exclusively WoW. There are a few "guilds" out there that play multiple games and all use the same voice server. Sure, it's used for in-game convos, but it's mostly people hanging out and shooting the shit.

Also, if you want to chat about games with me I'm down for that too. :P
