I read my friends' RL entries and try to comment but sometimes I just have nothing to say. If all we've done is talk about how we like the same TV show, then you talk about how your dog died or something...um, I'm probably just gonna lurk. It's hard enough to console somebody I know well in the right way.
As for the original fiction, maybe it's just not of interest to them? You can make a post requesting feedback and link to your original fiction if nobody's getting the hint.
