Yeah, the outfit and expression is a tease, but its not Canary's defining trait here. I love this outfit drawn like this. She obviously looks good in it, and feels good in it. Same costume, very different focus. Instead of Canary being tough, in control, AND sexy, she has been drawn to flaunt her boobs, hips, legs and more foremost. Her leotard rides RIDICULOUSLY high, her pose flaunts her assets - no one would really hang off a gargoyle posing like that. She's still gonna kick your ass, but she's being objectified by the viewer, not strengthened by her own sexiness.
As a feminist comic fan, I love the first Black Canary, and hate the second one. Does it really have anything to do with the outfit itself? Not so much. It has to do with WHY the outfit was chosen, and HOW it is presented.
I loved Wonder Woman's redesign. Unfortunately, poor writing basically killed her relaunch, which is why she's back in the old outfit. I quite like the old outfit, but only when she is presented wearing it because she is strong and beautiful and is proud of her body, rather than wearing it to please the readers' fantasies.
Sorry anon. I'm not really attacking your point. I just hit reply here. Though in response to you, you *can* be sexual without wearing lingerie... but its okay to be sexual with lingerie too. What do you have against lingerie? I fucking love it, it makes me feel great.
