I don't know, I don't bob around in the misogynist/homophobic/unpleasant corners of the book fandom, because, well…… well, you can imagine. I've been less than pleased with a lot of the added sex scenes, but mostly the ones that just don't seem to be there for any reason other than titillation.

To me, I can sort of see both ends of it. One one hand, this is fandom, and some people are terribly protective of the stories they love - it's not uncommon to hear that people get annoyed by a casting choice to hire an actor with the wrong eye-colour. And I can even get people not understanding subtext.

On the other hand, if they're applauding non-cannon girl-on-girl sex and complain about this...yeah, that sort of says something about their way of thinking.

In my personal, r/l environment, I find this to be a show watched proportionally more by (straight) men, so that might have something to do with it. It is in any case a show that has a big appeal to guys.
