Just roll with it. There's no need to defend your rape kink IMO.

[identity profile] kallanda-lee.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
No, you're just pervy...but that's okay.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
yes you are

hth

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
you're not a horrible fucked up person

[identity profile] xelestri.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's a really common kink.

[identity profile] nabradia.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's a common kink. It's not as if you're wishing it on real people, so meh. Roll with it.

[identity profile] cousinmary.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Rape fantasies are one of the most common for women, it's about turning over control and not being our "fault." As long as you aren't planning on doing anything, you're probably fine.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
What about if it's a man who fantasises about rape?

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Men can get raped too - and I imagine there are men who fantasize about being raped. Albeit, it's probably not as common as it is with women.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
I think AYRT was just questioning what motivations could make it 'okay' for men to fantasise about rape, not implying that men don't get raped.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
What if you're a woman who fantasizes about rape in the role of the aggressor? Or about a character being raped and you're not even involved?

[identity profile] emeriin.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That happens just as much. In a study, about 50% of women had rape fantasies and around 40% of men had the same. It said that the results of raper or rapee were mixed for both, so I think it's just people's demand for "proper gender roles" that everyone says women rape fantasies are where they're submissive and men rape fantasies are vice versa.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Rape kink is very common. There's nothing wrong with you.

but keep that shit to yourself

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
If I ever find it necessary to talk about my kinks, and I don't want to use the term "rape", I say I'm into role playing and power games. Likeminded people always know what I mean.

[identity profile] la-petite-singe.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
No. That's just true for some people. I think people just say that when others say "ALL RAPE FIC IS OFFENSIVE; THINK OF THE VICTIMS." You don't have to be a victim to justify reading it. As long as it's only fictional rape you're into, then it's OK.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
depends

a) do you get off on actual rape (i.e. not play or mildly dub con)
b) do you identify with the rapist

then pretty much yes

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think you can identify as the rapist and not be a sicko. It's still fictional. No one would accuse a dominatrix of being an abuser in real life. It's just a game.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah OP, think carefully about yourself and your choices (because we all know these kinks are a choice!). If you're just physically acting out pretend rape in real life, you're in the clear. Or if your fantasies are only a little tiny bit rapey. I just hope you're not one of those sick, sick people who gets off on a fictional depiction of rape. There's no hope for you then...you're truly evil.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Nothin' wrong with you anon. It's one very, very common kink.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much, yeah.

[identity profile] no-one-specific.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
No, you are not. :) You don't need to defend it to anyone.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-11 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Reaaaaaaally depends on how you mean this.

Just kink? No, you're not. There is a line that shouldn't be crossed, though, and there are more than enough people who see know problem with crossing it and flaunting it. Rape's a sensitive subject, and should be treated as such when discussed. EVEN AS KINK.

The "survivor" defense is an important distinction to make, though. Being a survivor makes that "line" a lot more fluid. Still shouldn't flaunt it every which way, but acceptable becomes the survivors definition.

[identity profile] beandelphiki.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
OP, the reason people point this out so frequently (and I've done it myself) IS NOT because rape kinks are only okay if you're a survivor.

It's because a lot of those people shrieking on about how people with rape kinks are awful people who don't appreciate how serious it is, etc., etc. are explicitly shaming those survivors with rape kinks AND policing how they process their trauma.

Which is really not okay.

That doesn't mean it IS okay to tell you you're a bad person if you have a rape kink! I think people just tend to rush in when it seems like some ass may be on the tip of telling a survivor to "go get raped if you like it so much" or something.
