Nitpick: A transvestite isn't the same as a transgendered person, it's someone who enjoys wearing the clothes of the opposite gender, either for fetish reasons or just because they feel like it. For example, Eddie Izzard is a transvestite, but he is not transgendered. In theory a transgendered person could also be a transvestite, but I don't think it's common.

Technically speaking, yes a "phobia" is a fear. Colloquially, however, it is often used to denote an intolerance or prejudice against a group of people. The word "homophobic" being the most common example. It is used to mean a hatred of homosexuals with or without fear.

Phobia also means aversion. Lipids aren't hydrophobic because they are somehow secretly scared of water at a molecular level, they're just repelled by it.

Ummm but the only transphobia I really see in the secret is, uh, OP's aversion to realizing that transgender and transvestite don't mean the same things, I guess? But I have a feeling English might not be OP's first language, so I don't know, I don't think it's really fair to criticize them harshly for their confusion of terms.

Erf. OP, you yourself are also very confused - it isn't just as simple as 'gay man' or 'transgender' - the word you are looking for is TRANSVESTITE. It's when a man dresses like a woman but it has nothing to do with his sexuality, and also has nothing to do with how much or little of his 'manliness' is shown. Transvestites can be anything from full-on female impersonator with an effort to show absolutely no masculinity to still having some masculine facial apppearance or mannerisms/affectations, etc while wearing women's clothing and dresses, combining the masculine and feminine.

It bothers me when people lump transgender peopel together with transvestites (which happens quite often).

You, my friend, are well-meaning but unfortunately unlearned on the subject.

"Transgender" is not a noun. It's an adjective. "Transgender people" or just "transpeople" (transman, transwoman, etc.) gets the idea across. "Transsexual" can be a noun, but it's a word that many transgender and otherwise non-cisgender people do not identity with or otherwise have issues with.

"Transvestite" is someone who likes to wear clothing meant for the opposite sex, for whatever reason. So if "fetish type outfits" are frilly maid skirts and whatnot, then yes, you could argue that he is a transvestite. (Though the word "transvestite" is fraught with its own issues.)

"Fetish type outfits" and "sexy gay outfits" are not necessarily the same thing. In fact, I think the only difference between "straight fetish outfits" and "gay fetish outfits" is the sex of the people wearing them while having sex.

"It's obvious that Ash is NOT transgender because he still has his manly features." WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. I know you don't mean it this way, but this is a method of erasing or denying trans people. Someone is trans if they identify as trans. A transwoman may have facial hair and pecs and a bass voice and a dick, she may like football and duck hunting and motorcycles and porn, but if she considers herself a woman, SHE IS A WOMAN. Period. She may not fall into traditional ideas of womanhood, but SHE IS A WOMAN. There are plenty of reasons a transwoman may still present as male, and that does NOT diminish or lessen her status as a woman. PERIOD.

I know absolutely nothing about the fandom in question, so I know absolutely nothing about the sexuality, gender presentation or gender identity of the character in question. What I do know is that your argument is confused and flawed, and I strongly recommend that you learn a bit more on the subject before trying to make another argument about it.

That's not correct. You CAN be transgender and still have the same parts. It's called not having the operation done yet. I know a trangendered girl who is going to be FTM once (s)he finally can afford the treatment and all.
