4. Bleh, whatever, yeah, old stuff was good [and I watched a lot of it when it was originally aired], but I like the newer stuff too, precisely because it looks pretty. It doesn't have to be one thing or the other.

PS: Maybe some of us "realize this", but don't give a fuck.

Actually, I never said people shouldn't like things because they're pretty. I Just think it's lame that a lot of Seed and Wing fans won't watch the original because it isn't pretty. I don't even expect everyone who watches the original to like it. It just irks me when I hear people say things like, "I won't watch the old Gundam because the guys aren't as hot, and it just doesn't feel like Gundam without any Wing characters in it." (And, yes, I HAVE heard people say this.) Or when people deny the new ones ganked storylines from the original series. Of course, a lot of them don't know any better because they refuse to give the original one a chance in the first place. : /

But there is nothing you can do about how people feel about older series. Sure, I didn't think they were ugly when I watched them the first time, and I don't think they're ugly now, because I watched them when I was a kid and I have the good memories of old anime, and to me they were spectacular when I first watched them.

My favorite mecha of all time is Robotech, but I can't go around begrudging the youngsters because they can't appreciate it, to them it can look old and antiquated, they don't know what it was like to be a kid and watch those shows in awe.

In twenty years when their grandsons are talking about how ridiculous Heero looked with that big hair, and WTF?! at those clothes, then they'll know.

I can look at things from old and they don't look ugly to me, because that's what I grew up with, I was used to it, and I loved it, but younger people are used to more stylish stuff, pretty things, it's just the way they are, nothing we can do about it.
