4. I have a friend who's a huge fan of Gundam, and he holds the same opinion. I think I might have to check it out myself sometime, because my biggest gripe about Wing was that the characters (except maybe Duo and Relena) and plot really failed to hold my attention.

I recommend watching the movie adaptations sometime. That's what got me into it in the first place. Although I think there might be a manga remake that they were doing several years ago, called Gundam: The Origin. Don't think they ever finished it, though.

But, yeah, I personally thought the characterization in the original was better. Wing recycles some stuff from the original that kind of mirrors the Zechs/Heero/Relena dynamic, but I think the original one did it way, way better. :/
