To #2: I know the feeling, but you're right: You're probably going to have to just knuckle up and write it yourself.

To #4: Whether I know you or not, you're awesome for saying this, and I agree about 200%. (See avatar.) You have to know your roots before you can appreciate the whole tree, after all.
