Ha! I have two cats, but my oldest is pure white with green eyes and a very imperious attitude. I named him Lear, but Yriel was a very close second option. It hasn't stopped everyone I know who has read those books from calling him Mogget, either.

When he had a red leather collar with a bell, the resemblance was uncanny.

1) You should listen to the Tolkien Professor's Faerie and Fantasy podcast as it gets uploaded. The last book we read was the first book of the Abhorsen series and we had a great time chatting about it for the podcast.

2) DITTO THIS SECRET. Mogget was my favorite character and I so want a white cat now just to name it Mogget.

Some friends and I were reminiscing about the fantasy books we used to read. Everyone was excited about Windsinger and the Tortall series, but when I brought up Abhorsen they all just stared at me.

"She's got, like, bells to travel through the different layers of the afterlife, and there was this guy made of wood ..."

yeah that was actually my favorite by a lot. this is what i did not tell my friends.

EEEEE! I just got the Abhorsen series (with the Across The Wall short story) volume (and conked my boyfriend with it - in my defense, he snuck up on me and surprised me). A most wonderful secret, OP. I just recently came into possession of a kitten. I was so close to naming him Mogget, but I just couldn't because he isn't a white kitten. But someday. Someday I will get a white cat and name it Mogget and give it a collar with a bell.

And the world shall roll its collective eyes at my nerdiness, and I will give not a single shit.
